Thermocol cricket…!

April 6, 2009

We have seen it all.

The Test cricket, ODI’s, 20-20, ICL, IPL, County Cricket, Women’s cricket, Under 19, Under 16, Beach Cricket, gully cricket… that is all there is.

Only that is not true.

Now comes – ‘The Thermocol Cricket’

The game– it is a game played by only 2 people, indoors to kill the boring afternoon.

Properties

1. A Thermocol bat (can be arranged from any electronic item; like from TV or P.C monitor packaging and if taken from the fridge box break the thermocol according to the height of the player)

2. A ball (the Crazy ball made of rubber that defies Newton’s third law of motion that states ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’ and jumps more energetically than the participants)

Play area / ground – the passage in the house that connects the hall and the bedroom.

Players – 1 boy (for running around the ball) and 1 girl (to hit the ball any which way she wants)

Rules

1. Low hand slow bowling only.

2. Hit the wall on the top half – six runs

3. Hit the wall in the lower half – four runs.

4. Running for runs not allowed. (No room for running without actually colliding with each other)

5. Lbw does not exist. (If we can’t stop the ball with a bat we stop it with the leg)

6. The girl has the right to change any rule any moment in the game.

How to play the game – The girl stand on one end of the passage with the thermocol bat in hand. The boy bowls from the other end. The girl hits six. The play continues till the girl wants to play. The boy follows all the rules as he is bored and needs the girl to kill the afternoon.

How to end the game

1. The girl gets bored and asks to stop.

2. Hit any living being in the home (read – mom and dad) and the game is over.

The game brings best results when played with a younger brother.

This was the pre-computer games addiction era.

Disclaimer: this game has been patented by me and my brother. Anyone who plays this for entertainment and gets it may send some blessings this way. And if you play it and make money.. You’ll be hunted down to pay royalty.

Awww!!! This is a cute post…i specially liked the line about how it ends!!!

Me n my bro used to play similarily as in hitting the wall….we always ended the game with fighting as to who cheated the most. There were days when I wanted to bang his head on the wall!!! seriously!!! he was so bloody irritating hehehehe 🙂

oh.. talk about irritating brothers.. mine was no exception.. but now i miss him so much i am writing posts about our silly games at home.. 🙂

LOL good one..Me n my sis used to play with our exam pads[the one made of cardboard] with a different set of rules for 6s n 4s,luks like we are gonna fight it out for royalty.

friends need not fight.. we can share it.. for this universal game that everyone already plays there would be no shortage… 😉

;)a badminton racket used to be the bat and everyone used to get equal time to bat… it was the only alternative other than staring at the laptop!

with a pro bro you can’t even let him touch the bat coz once he does that you won’t get a chance.. can’t take that risk. 🙂

We even devised a similar game to be played during class and that was called Book Cricket :)… Hehehe, the more pages of a book you turn, the more the runs you made! 🙂

ya i remember it was like the no. in the units place of the page number were runs.. something like that..

LOL!! I have played countless cricket matches where one of us would get offended and walk off with the bat! 😀

    err..you want royalty? 😀

not from friends.. blessings would do.. 🙂

Oh.. you name cricket and I have played multiple versions… galli cricket, passage cricket, book cricket, room cricket… u name it! oh and did I mention the version where I would be the only batsman and bowler… its simple u see… throw the ball at the wall with a good bouce.. let it come back.. practise straight drive! 😀

btw ur game has a flaw… it’s heavily tilted in favor of the girls.. the rules need some modification! 😦

my bro plays that ‘sinlge cricket’ too with the wall . i guess all guys practice like that.

rule change no way… that is the fun part of the game dear.. 😉

I laughed when you said you and your brother had patented it. 🙂 I thought I had the patent. 😛 Two girls played the game and it went on till one of us got bored (usually me) and if we hurt each other or parents or broke soem stuff inside the house (which we did many times).

well it is so univeral the one who says loudly its theirs gets it.. (just like Basmati or Ayurveda)

it is a lot of fun to play inside the house.. 🙂

  15. April 7, 2009 1:46 pm

i have only played book cricket .. now this is an option i haven’t pondered about .. sounds muchaa fun .. such games are fun and best played with younger brothers that can be bossed around ..ok , i must go hunt fr a thermocol bat now .. 😉

    its so much fun..

all the best for finding a bro who can be bossed around 😉
