Why shampoo with tea..

In continuation to my last post I am letting out the reason behind the marketing strategy.

 

Here it goes…

 

There was this tea company which was producing cheap quality tea. And they launched it in the market in a high price as they wanted to make quick bucks. But as the first few customers had their encounters with the bad quality of it, the word spread and the tea left untouched in the stands.

 

That put the management in worry. They thought what they had to do but could not come up with a solution.So they hired a few new graduates and some undergraduates for part time jobs and made them the research and development team. The new R & D team finally in 2 weeks figured out what had to be done and a board meeting was called.

 

There the R & D team shared their presentation. Their view was that tea was not selling because all the other companies were giving discounts and free stuff with their products and only theirs was just the tea and so it was not attracting any customers. So the R & D team suggested to the management that if we add something free with the product it might attract more customers.

 

So the management took a decision after looking at all possibilities for a week.

 

It was a shampoo sachet.

 

Because.. It was the cheapest thing they could get their hands on.

    LOL. All those meetings for providing shampoo with tea !! Good one.

    Btw, the disclaimer is not needed 😀 Such companies deserve this kind of sarcasm !

    LOL! Well, if that is the R&D conclusion. I wonder what it says about the customers psyche?! Woh bhi saste log sasti pasand na?! 🙂
    I had gone on this major oh push slow moving product blah blah….well, in a way, I suppose it is the same thing? 🙂

    well it is true.. we need to push the slower moving ones. but customer choice products needs no marketing. they do it themselves by recomending it to their friends and family.

    and some customers are really penny wise pound fool while shopping.

    Ah! Thanks for that, I will keep this mind when I find deals 🙂

    it was just about the companies who market bad products using discounts or irrelevent free products.
    there are some genuine companies who share there profits with the customers in this manner. so don’t feel too bad when if you buy any thing in an offer.

    Hahaha… Too good!

    Shampoo would have been the cheapest and it would have also been the product that would have been getting expired next month.

    yes i got the inside information just now.. that the shampoo also was of bad quality and not selling so the shampoo company R & D decided to sell it in wholesale to some other company 😉

    ROFL….how about the 1 ke saath 2 offer..it might help the company in their marketing strategy!!

    the problem with that is if people are not willing to buy even one piece they’ll run away twice as fast if two are offered together.

    rotfl! i read this post first before reading the one you wrote previously about this too, so i thought you meant tea as an ingredient in the shampoo. i was somewhat puzzled, cos well you have shampoos with other so-called healthy ingredients too so what’s wrong with that marketing strategy? until i realise you meant that people get free shampoo samples with the tea they buy. lol indeed!

    🙂 hazards of not reading the posts in sequence..

    tea can be a good ingredient with shampoo as i have also mentioned in a comment in the last post.

    I read both your posts..I am not surprised by these stratigies. I always wonder how people misle by offering free products. Then they price things at 99 and not 100/- as if I am dumb to catch that. I also feel portions at restaurants also have reduced, including McDs.

    yes that happens a lot. it’s now officially called the BATA figure. 99.99 only.
