The weird me..

February 16, 2009

I was tagged by Chiranjib to write 6 weird things about me.

Well.. Every one has those. Many of them, and I am no exception. I have tonnes of weird things about me but the 1st weird thing (thankfully) keeps other people unaware of the rest of the ones.

So.. At no. 1 there is –

1. Secretive – I am very secretive about everything around me. Not only real secrets but even small things. I can’t tell anyone anything which is not related to them. For example I can’t gossip. Yahan ki baat wahan.. I can’t share what I think with everyone. There is just my mom whom I tell most of the things (which is again not the complete thing).  I am actually surprised how I am able to do that in blogosphere.

2. OCD – I am at the verge of having an OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder)  for order & cleanliness. I can’t bear disorder of any kind. If I have time, I even colour code the clothes in the wardrobe. Some of these might sound real funny – can’t tolerate if anyone leaves their toffee wrappers where they ate it, if anyone squeezes the toothpaste from the middle or throw their clothes and shoes anywhere in the room. The list is very long.

3. Insects – I like insects of all kind. (Except those big brown flying cockroaches) I think insects & worms are beautiful. With tiny little legs, eyes, wings and they are also beautifully colored. If I ever find any worm while cleaning the vegetables especially peas or cauliflower, I let them run on my finger till my mom shouts at me to throw it away. (Now anyone… go top this weird thing)

4. Love for darkness – I like dark rooms. Dimly lit that is. I find them more pleasant than bright lights. When there is no light I see better. (No I am not saying that literally before u call me ullu (owl), I mean metaphorically) I actually can think better with the lights off. I love my dark room at night with music (old Hindi songs) playing lightly.

5. Passionate till achieved – I am passionate about something only till I am on the way to it. Once I reach my goal I just drop it totally. My interest just drops. I get bored very easily. That can cause some serious problems at times. I may argue all day for something then when offered with that, I just don’t want it anymore.

6. Diplomatic Rebel – yes as weird as it may sound that is me. I am a rebel at heart, but have been brought up (by myself) to be a diplomatic sophisticated social person. I hate (some) social rules, and would like to break each one of them with love. But the social me.. Just rants and follows the regular path. I can’t even swear.. Not even in my mind (can u believe that? Maybe that’s why I like to visit Prasad’s blog as I am fascinated how he can swear so easily) I believe I am a good person want good things for everyone but want in return to just let me live the way I want.

This is going way too longer than I wanted or expected it to be. If I keep going I don’t know what I might write, which I may regret later. But I started this blog to be myself and do what I want so that is what I am going to do. No restraints over myself here.

    I hate darkness!!! 😦
I am so afraid of it!
    Let there be lights!!! 😀

And the other ‘weird’ traits are not very weird… 😉

  5. February 16, 2009 6:12 pm

    that was your true self.
dark rooms.mmmm…your profile snap depicts something of that sort
and it was good to know more about you.
and oorja, really sorry for letting you down…..didnt know people were waiting for my post
but yes, the farewell was emotional as expected.
rest the post will tell you soon
    chao 😛

No.3 is definetely weird. You are the first woman I know who isnt scared of insects !!!

No.4 is just the opposite. I need light. I panic after 6 if there isnt light. Coincidentally, when I did this tag months ago, this was part of my list !!

    check it out :

Your weirdness is very normal (and desirable).

These may be weird to some but they are also wonderful!

I too love darkness and in my childhood I used to switch off the lights and study with kerosene lamp!

For more than one year during my M.A. I used only the 11 W fluorescent table lamp; later a roommate came and he installed a tube light and then I also installed one and thereafter it has always been two tube lights in my room!

I fear many insects! Cockroaches, above all! And household lizards have almost killed me in the past! Summer will be here soon and I am already frightened!

‘Diplomatic rebel’ is a good phrase. A truly educated person will almost always be a diplomatic rebel.

By the way, I recall a quote on diplomats: ‘A diplomat is a person who tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip!’

Don’t worry about writing long posts (just as I don’t worry about writing long comments); be yourself, come what may. This is your ‘personal’ blog; besides this theme has very pronounced fonts which does not trouble the eyes.

    Neeraja – really..? 🙂

Chiranjib – pay ur light bills and the lights will always be there.

considering my 1st one do u expect me to give away the real ones… 😉

Indyeah – maybe those are some common ones. or maybe most of the people are similar at some level.

Max – have more of them is store.. 😉

    Arpit – truly me… 🙂
i liked that snap instantly. felt some connection.

farewells are always emotional. i remember i had mine exactly today (17th feb) 8 years ago. glad you had a good one. take your own time.

Vimal – i knew that was very weird.
    and so are you..
10:20 and tablets very quirky. 🙂
i too am not very keen on mangoes.

Vikas – normal maybe.. desirable no way…!
try chatting with the people i live with and you’ll find out how annoyed everyone is of me.

11 watts..? too much… i like the small 0 watt bulb (as u call them) which give just enough light to read.

i was not actually worried about the word limit, it was way too revealing. (refer to no.1)

    @Oorja’s reply:

Yeah! I got it; you know sometimes I am a tube light; I understand things late!

Insects?! Or as they’d say in hindi, “Pilloo?! Tebait to teekh hai na?”

I’m sure I spelt it all wrong.
    But, I tried.

Hey!! I do like insects & worms…I actually wanted my son to get used to worms and used to show off worms that came out while shelling the peas 😉
I don’t like a night lamp in my room at night, I want it dark – pitch dark. Though now, for A’s sake, I have a small night lamp on – my mum’s orders 😦
Passionate till done -well, certain things yes, certain things no! 😀
I am a rebel, but don’t think I am that much of a diplomat! 😉 Though I do visit Prasad’s blog and am amazed at how he swears so much!!!
I can call myself an OCD too in a way…the toothpaste thing is definitely me 😀 same pinch…
Same with the gossip thing, cannot gossip and cannot lie either 🙂
    Learnt a bit about you

  13. February 18, 2009 2:50 am

  14. February 18, 2009 5:18 am

Arvind – now don’t imagine me cuddling a spider… that is not happening… i just like to see them..

Apar – well maybe tags were invented to get things out of people which they might not share otherwise..

    Praddy – 🙂 yep that’s me.. 🙂

  15. February 18, 2009 7:11 am

  19. February 19, 2009 8:53 am

    🙂 i hate being orderly

  20. February 19, 2009 12:46 pm

    queer indeed 😀

i am suffering from OCD as well… it always makes me feel as if my life wont be in control if i dont keep things in order

  21. February 19, 2009 3:13 pm

First thing you are definitive.. I can never ever be definitive about my nature.. it changes..
then 1st point is hard to believe as it is difficult to keep all secrets with oneself 🙂

  22. February 20, 2009 2:27 pm

  24. February 21, 2009 12:07 pm

you are very weird indeed, especially the insect bit. i am scared to death of cockroaches!! and it’s a good thing you can’t gossip. i do it and i know i shouldn’t.

    • February 21, 2009 1:39 pm

🙂 i feel disgusted even in writing the word cockroach.

  25. February 21, 2009 6:17 pm

Insect thing is really weird 🙂

If you want to swear try using **** stars **** for a start 🙂

  26. May 19, 2009 10:07 pm

    Ditto for:

    1. Cockroach
    2. The toothpaste thing…was just wondering priorly if anyone shared with me that fascination for squeezing the tube from the bottom. I can’t explain, but I just find squeezing it from bottom…so crude, so unelegant!
    3. Almost the whole of point 6. Though, I swear a bit, it’s significantly less than ‘how much guys are supposed to swear’!

ah finally a guy who swears ‘less’.. 🙂
