Tattoo realities…

January 7, 2009

A biker dude with long blonde hair, a bandana on his head, dark shades, with his body all covered with tattoos. A babe in bikini, showing off a lot of skin with a tattoo in an objectionable spot.

Life filled with fun. No responsibilities. A fashion statement… Show off…?

Now, a 67 year old grandma in a skirt with a ballerina tattoo on her leg. She got it done a month ago. Why..? What’s unusual..?

Why does she have that..? It is a tribute to her granddaughter who wanted to become a ballerina but couldn’t live to see her 9th birthday. She died in a car accident. Granny wanted to show her grief & love towards her granddaughter and so she decided to have this tattoo.

Generally people with tattoos are seen as those who don’t take life seriously and that they are aloof. But that is not true. I watched many an episodes of Miami Ink & LA ink, and came to know of many stories of why people have tattoos.

Over 70% of the tattoos are display of love towards a loved one (dead or alive). Friends forever, victory over the evil in them, moving forward in life, everything can be expressed in tattoo. It is just like a blog where we write whatever we want. Intention is to express the feelings.

I always liked tattoos. I feel that is also an ‘Art’. It is an art of the brave. Not only it is painful but it is also permanent.

It shows great strength & determination and that the person will go to any extent to reach his goal. People with tattoos are misjudged. A common stereotype.

Look in the hearts of these people. They have feelings and they have the courage to express it.

Do you have a tattoo or do you intend to get one? I am way too scared to bring that needle any way near my body. I love it as art!

True indeed! And anyone calling people having tattoos as jobless are plain ignorant!

Its an expression of their ideas, love for something /some one – like you said.

And it sure is a beautiful art 🙂 How many people can really do all that intricate work on someone’s body without hurting them too much?

    Nice post 🙂
