No New Year resolutions for me please..!

January 3, 2009

People will either be writing about the year that was or their New Year resolutions. Some of them will be the same as the last year or maybe many years in a row. Many of them will look like a group effort as a lot many will have the same resolutions, like ‘Dieting’ topping the charts along with ‘Quitting smoking’. It seems funny how people forget the resolution as quickly as they make them. It vanishes as soon as the hangover from the night is over. This has now become an International yearly ritual.

I have never had any New Year resolutions in my life. Yes, I have had resolutions but I don’t wait till the New Year to implement them. Because I feel if you have to wait for one fine day to start a good thing there is no use, because the intention to do it is not strong enough and be sure that you will quit the resolution before the bad habit.

Why do we have these resolutions? Why wait for the New Year to start something? I believe in Jab jago tab sawera. If you want to start doing something good or stop doing something bad, why wait for the New Year? Do it now. If you really know you what you have to change about yourself then go ahead, be it mid of May. Why not? You can start being a better person any day.

Due to the past years experience even our own our brain & mind know that New Year resolutions are just fake. Just to show others that you are complying with the society. Making them just for the sake of ‘making them’. No one really cares how many actually stick to it. On the other hand starting it any day of the year sends the message that you really want to do it. Try it. It really works

So… What do you want to do this year..?.

All the best for the New Year.
